Match Report
Westholme School Mixed-U11A vs  AJIS Cup
On: Friday, 15 Oct 2021
Venue: Away

A wonderful afternoon for football, the ground still firm underfoot and the sun shining softly down upon us.

The first game we encountered a totally changed Bolton side from our previous match a couple of weeks ago. It seems they had found some new players. And some players they were! Sadly we were outclassed, despite working hard to retain our formation and shape that Mr McGarry had drilled into the team. We fought on manfully to the end but they proved too good for us. Jenson made some fantastic saves in goal and Tom worked like a trojan up and down the pitch. 5-0 to Bolton.

The next match we played Scarisbrick. Again, we worked hard to keep our shape and press when necessary. It was a very even match with chances for both sides. Nathan found himself through on goal a couple of times but got closed down very effectively by their defense. It looked like it was heading towards a draw when Scarisbrick found the back of the net in the final minutes. 1-0 to them.

The other team, Abbeygate, pulled out at the last minute and we were awarded a 2-0 walkover.

This put us through into the plate competition, rather than the main cup. The tournament resumes in February.
