Match Report
Westholme School Mixed-U9A vs  Stonyhurst St Mary's Hall (SMH)
On: Tuesday, 11 May 2021
Venue: Away

There was great excitement at the Junior school as the first competitive match against another school in well over a year took place! The Yr4 girls had the honour of taking on Stonyhurst in a game of rounders.

Every single girl who was available travelled in the minibus to Stonyhurst. The singing was brilliant, I especially liked their rendition of 'Dance Monkey', so much so that I even requested it again on the return journey!

On arrival we talked through how to go about a match, from good sportsmanship, behaviour and what was expected of them. I am delighted to report that every girl rose magnificently to the challenge!

Predictably, we started nervously. However, sport is all about learning from making mistakes and we rapidly improved as the games went on. So much so that everybody managed to score for the team and there was some amazing fielding too. Neither Stonyhurst or I were particularly worried about the score, it was all about learning the game and how to conduct ourselves in a match situation. What a fantastic start to competitive sport!

Thank you to Mrs Lowde for accompanying us for the match. Well done to all the girls!
